How Often Do You Do Yoga?

Journey Healing Centers focuses on Yoga primarily as a healing practice for men, women and children of all ages.

Yoga is, without a doubt, about the journey, not the destination. But let’s be honest. Many people find themselves on the mat in order to achieve those objectives. Feeling and seeing change, be it a relaxed and calm mind, tougher muscles, or a lighter image in the mirror, is the greatest encouragement to really concentrate on the process and keep going forward in the ultimate yoga experience. If you’re new to yoga and asana practice, the conundrum of “how often should I practice yoga to see results” is all too familiar.

To better every aspect of your life, here’s how often you should practice yoga.

●     Relax and de-stress

If you’re using yoga to calm your mind and relieve anxiety and worry, you may do so on a regular basis (as long as you don’t overdo it). It’s also a good idea to incorporate other activities into your everyday sadhana (practice), such as pranayama (breath work) and mindfulness.

You will most likely benefit from a Yin yoga class, even though most forms of yoga can help relieve stress and anxiety.

●     Gain Strength

Muscles need rest and recovery period in between training in order to recover and grow stronger. An extreme daily yoga practice will quickly exhaust you, particularly if you also workout and do cardio during the week. If your aim is to improve strength or muscle mass while still exercising off the mat, I suggest doing yoga 2–3 times per week. To help stretch out tight muscles and increase flexibility, a gentle Hatha, Yin, or restorative yoga class will be ideal. You might get away with a daily practice if you’re just using yoga to strengthen yourself. Ashtanga or a power vinyasa flow class would be the best options.

●     Get ripped

Yoga will help you get ripped if you eat the right foods and exercise regularly. You’ll need to eat in a low calorie diet to get ripped, which will make everyday workouts difficult. It’s especially important if you’re doing yoga while also working out. In this case, it is recommended to do restorative yoga two to three times a week. If you’re just interested in getting ripped through yoga, I recommend finding a good Vinyasa class. Vinyasa yoga entails quickly “flowing” between various asanas, or postures. Vinyasa yoga, unlike gentler Hatha yoga, focuses on increasing body heat, which can help you lose calories and sweat profusely.

●     Enhance flexibility

If you are someone who’s having a bit of a challenge to touch your toes. Look for 3–5 yoga sessions per week if you want to improve your flexibility and be able to do a perfect forward fold or even a complete split. Resting for a few days in between yoga classes can help to minimize muscle pain and increase flexibility.

How long does yoga show results?

It depends on the positive effects you’re looking for. It’s not only about the outcome, it’s also about getting there. What I remember about yoga. You may see results that last just as few months or a year if you want to see effects on the body. It can take a few months, even years, if it’s internal peace, spiritual growth, and a stronger connection to self. Some may feel immediately relaxed, but this is only the beginning of the positive effects you can achieve with daily practice.
